Tinnitus Relaxation techniques
Save Your Ears - Hearing Loss Prevention and Prevention of Hearing Loss from Noise Exposure
Loud and excessive noise is one of the most usual causes of hearing loss.
It is also one of the biggest occupational illnesses in the USA. For example one loud firecracker, a noisy rock convert or a blast from a normal gun at close range can permanently damage your hearing. Additionally ongoing exposures to noisy machinery over a long period of time can also damage your hearing. Some of the facts about hearing loss in the USA include:
* Over 10 million Americans already have irreversible hearing damage from loud noises.
* More than 40 million Americans are exposed to dangerously loud noise levels every day.
* Hearing loss and it's effects are usually underestimated because the damage takes place slowly.
Tinnitus Masking Software and Tinnitus Relief
The 40 million plus Americans that have sufferered major hearing loss have symptoms ranging in severity from modest difficulty with speech to profound deafness. At some time in most peoples lives they get a hearing impairment and its important to remember that hearing loss affects people of all ages, races and sexes. 1 child in 1000 is born deaf whilst another 1 child in 1000 will become deaf before they reach adulthood.
Over 25% of the population in the USA over 60 years of age is hearing-impaired to some degree and a further 50% of those people over 80 are afflicted.
In deaf people they mainly contract sensorineural hearing loss which has resulted specifically from damage to hair cells in the ear canal. These hair cells are the sensory receptors of the inner ear and each cochlea has approximately 15,000 hair cells. These hair cells translate the mechanical inputs sourced from sounds into electrical signals which the brain can then interpret.
There are other similar cells in the ear which also determine a human's sense of balance and these must also be protected from damage. Human hair cells can be lost through a person's life as a result of infections, genetics, ototoxic drugs, noise trauma and aging and its because the hair cells cannot replaced by cellular regrowth their loss is generally associated with an ongoing decline of our hearing senses of and also our equilibrium. many scientists with the goal of understanding normal hearing and its development, its deterioration and potential restoration are researching and investigating the molecular structure and operations of the hair cells located in the vertebrate internal ear.
Excessive noise can often damage the very delicate hair cells in the inner ear. This damage then results in sensorineural hearing loss/damage and often tinnitus (a ringing of the ears). Loud levels of noise can come from working in noisy occupations or in engaging in loud recreational activities.
You should consider the following to save your hearing loss:
- Be careful of loud recreational activities such as fire crackers, discos, music concerts, video arcades, gun shooting, movie theatres, motor sporting events, loud motorcycles and snowmobiles.
- Some of the occupations specifically at risk of causing hearing loss include: tradesmen, factory workers, firefighters, police officers, farmers, construction workers, military personnel, heavy industry workers, musicians and other entertainment professionals.
As a general rule of thumb if you need to raise your voice to a shout in order to be heard by someone only a few feet away from you then that noise is probably in the dangerous range where hearing loss can occur. Some warning signs indicating exposure to hazardous noise include:
- You can’t hear someone who is standing only three to four feet away
- You have a distinct pain in one or both ears when you leave a noisy area
- You can hear a ringing or buzzing (tinnitus) in your ear after after exposure to loud noises.
- You find you have difficulty understanding people talking after hearing a loud noise.
What You Can Do to Protect Your Hearing
- If you work in a risky occupation as described above make sure your employer has provided adequate hearing protection according to local regulations.
- Limit the time you are exposed to noisy activities.
- Wear hearing protection like foam or silicone plugs or ear muffs when you are exposed to noisy activities.
- Try turning down the volume of your relaxation devices such as TV's, radios, MP3 players etc.
- Again wear your ear plugs when operating loud equipment (i.e. saws, mechanical equipment, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hammers).
- Reduce the number of noisy home appliances nor buy quieter ones.
- Stay clear of medicines which can be dangerous to your hearing by asking your doctor every time he or she writes you a script.
An Ounce of Prevention Is Much Better
You must always be alert to hazardous noises and dangerously loud situations and therefore prevention of hearing loss is very critical.
Try and ensure that your family specifically your children as well as your friends and work colleagues are well aware of the perilous hazards of loud noise. Its been estimated that over 1/3 of hearing loss is preventable with the right hearing protection.
Progressive Relaxation Technique
This technique is more successful when you use the instructions and you can record these instructions and then read them slowly.
-Start by laying down on your back and then closing your eyes.
-Then feel your feet and sense their weight whilst you consciously relax your feet and let them drop on the bed. Begin with your toes and move to your ankles.
-Feel your knees and sense their weight whilst you relax them.
-Feel you upper legs and thighs and relax them as you sink into the bed.
-Feel your abdomen, chest and breathing and relax then deepen your breathing so you can feel your abdomen letting loose.
-Feel your buttocks and their weight whilst you relax them and let them sink into your bed.
-Feel your hands and their weight whilst you relax them totally.
-Feel your upper arms and their weight relaxing them gently.
-Feel your shoulders and their weight relaxing them gently.
-Feel your neck, roll it around and let it loose.
-Feel your mouth and relax it completely. make sure your jaw muscles are unclenched.
-Feel your eyes and let them relax especially your eyelids. You will feel the tension slide off the eyes.
-Feel your face and cheekbones and relax them.
-Finally scan your whole body and if you can find a place that is still tense let it relax and sink into your bed.
Paul Tobey's powerful tinnitus healing methods.
This is my number one recommendation for healing tinnitus. It's very similar to how I personally have found ways to deal with my extreme tinnitus but Paul has gone one steps further and put it into a package you can use right now to help you.Paul's two tinnitus relief programs for example will absolutely change forever the way you deal with your Tinnitus. Remember I know about treatments as I've been researching them for almost 14 years since I got the extremely loud ringing in my ears in an explosion in Asia and his eBook and audio seminar have done wonders giving me relief and healing just over the last few months.
His original healing product is called "A Practical Guide to Tinnitus Free Living". This is an eBook and audio recording in which he shares some practical and truly enlightening information on how to live a 100% Tinnitus-Free Life.
I highly recommend his easy to use methods. Paul is a Canadian concert pianist, composer, entertainer, motivational speaker and former tinnitus sufferer himself.
I was almost in tears of joy when I finished reading his book the 1st time because I just wished I had this information so many years, anxious days and sleepless nights ago.
I spoke for a few hours with Paul on Skype in early March 2008 to understand more about his methods and he really does have a great system with some very easy to use ways to get rid of your tinnitus or at least make it A LOT easier to deal with. He's an extremely inspirational and personable guy.
One thing that really stuck out in my conversation with Paul was his philosophy of focusing on what you want spiritually, mentally and emotionally and how the physical changes will follow. This is a guy who's just walked over 800 kilometres on a trek through Spain over 60 days. Paul filmed about 60 hours of footage along the Camino de Santiago for one of his documentary projects. This was a journey of personal development for Paul and when you read his eBook you will see the sheer simplicity and beauty of Paul's methods of dealing with Tinnitus.
His most recent product is a 90 Minute Äudio Seminar that I feel may just contain the most powerful tinnitus information ever assembled.
You can download it today and start healing immediately.
This seminar was recorded on March 14th 2008, when Paul Tobey appeared as guest speaker at the Canadian Hearing Society's London Tinnitus Treatment Support Group. Click here to find out more.
